Keep cyber safe – stay alert to phishing
‘Phishing’ is a type of scam where fake messages look like they’re from someone you trust, trying to steal your information or infect your device.
Key signs of phishing:
- Personalisation: messages use details from social media or other sources.
- Impersonation: emails appear to come from a familiar person or organisation.
- Malicious intent: the goal is to steal information or install harmful software.

What you can do:
- Be alert and verify unexpected emails.
- Report anything suspicious using the Report function in Outlook.
- If you have clicked on a suspicious link, report it immediately by logging a support call, or email educationict@dumgal.gov.uk.
